The Challenger division was established in 1989 as Little League's adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges, ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school, to enjoy the game of baseball. 

Whitefish Bay Little League's team, the Bats, play a regular season and an All Star game against other athletes from the Challenger Divisions in Menomonee Falls, Grafton and Germantown Little Leagues. 

Volunteers that are in seventh grade or above can participate as "Player Buddies". Each Player Buddy will work with a player on hitting, fielding, running the bases and enjoyment of the game. The Player Buddy also assists the Challenger athlete according to his/her needs and protects the player. Player Buddies encourage the athlete to participate, celebrate their success and have fun with the player and team.
